Santiago de Cali (official name) or Cali people called "the branch of the sky" is the main city and the Capital of the Valle del Cauca (province). In the History of Cali city you find that was founded on July 25 in 1536 by the Spanish conqueror SEBASTIAN DE BELALCAZAR under the orders of Belalcazar, captain Miguel Munoz moved the city to its present location in 1537 Cali is 470 years where the captain Brother Santos de Anasco celebrated a mass in the place occupied by the La Merced church today.
Cali’s name honours Saint James the apostle Santiago in Spanish, with a population of 2’725.000.
Cali is located on the Cauca Valley province to the west of the Cauca River and to the east of the western beautiful Mountain range near the hills knowns as Farallones de Cali are the most greaters close to the city above sea level and its topography is fairly flat.The city is bordered by mountains.
